Clairaudience means ‘clear-hearing’. It is the ability to ‘hear’ Spirit.
Clairaudience is that little voice inside of you that gives warnings or guidance. It speaks to you when you’re in danger or when you have an important decision to make that will strongly impact your life. If you don’t have this wonderful ability as one of your gifts, it can be developed.
If clairaudience is one of your natural intuitive gifts, your Spirit Guides will use clairaudient means to communicate with you. These can manifest as sounds, words, songs, book or movie titles you’re familiar with. These can be internal or you can come upon them outside of you. You may also hear voices in your dreams or while awake.
Clairaudients actually hear more real sound than most people. People who are bothered by loud noises are naturally predisposed towards clairaudience because of their higher sensitivity to sound.
Clairaudients often hear ringing in their ears (and their doctor will tell them it’s tinnitus). Clairaudients interpret this as a sign to pay attention and consciously tune in to their intuition.
Musicians are often clairaudient. There are many accounts of composers who have heard or had a dream of a melody playing inside their head before they put it down on paper.
The first step to developing your clairaudience is to work on fine tuning your sense of hearing.
Listen carefully to all the sounds you hear around you while you’re lying in bed at night (the sounds of cars passing, the sounds of birds or animals, of a plane, of people talking, music). We have learned to tune out these noises so that we can concentrate on what we’re doing or fall and stay asleep. But when you tune out noise, you dull down your perception and you become less sensitive to your “inner voice.”
When you begin consciously listening to the noise around you that you normally tune out, you will hear a ‘symphony’ of sounds. Your objective is to notice each and every one of these sounds that make up this ‘score’. Take it apart. How many distinct sounds can you hear? Make note of what they are. Some may be really subtle and almost inaudible. Your goal here is really to heighten your hearing perception.
Do this regularly for a week or so before you go to sleep and you will be amazed at how much you were missing before. This will begin to open your clairaudience.
You can also actively listen for clairaudient guidance.
Visualize turning on a radio or the TV and tuning in to the ‘channel’ of your intuition or your Spirit Guides. Imagine them sitting around you, ready to communicate with you. Relax yourself, open your hearing and start asking questions.
See if you can ‘hear’ or pick out individual words – it could be a clear voice that is easy to hear or you may have to really focus and go inside yourself to hear it clearly. If you don’t hear anything at all, don’t give up!. This is a skill and all skills take practice and persistence to get into the habit of listening to your intuition.
Set the intention to work with your clairaudience. Journal your experiences because this can reinforce it.
Don’t block your clairaudience through fear of hearing something negative/frightening. If you’re afraid of hearing Spirit for fear of being spooked, intentionally ask to only hear your Spirit Guides and Higher Self, who have your best intentions at heart and who would never knowingly scare you. Ask your ‘Asher’ guide (the spirit guide who is your energy ‘guardian’) to keep out negative energies. Remember that if you keep your vibration high and deal mostly in positive energies, you won’t attract negative energies.
Meditate enhances our senses. Intuitive guidance often comes through in the gaps between our thoughts. Meditation quiets the mind and creates more open spaces in our thoughts so our intuitive guidance can be heard during the quiet times. There are many books and CD’s you can use to work on meditation skills to help you learn how to create these gaps.
Develop your clairaudience by using positive affirmations, such as ‘I am safe listening to my inner voice’ or ‘Clairaudience will give me power to help myself and others.’
