![]() The month of May brings many special and beautiful sights, sounds, and memories,
It really is the start of spring and summer,
Going for a ride this past week we noticed crocuses and other flowers peaking their
heads above the dirt as if to say, "See me---I bring warmer weather and fhe promise
of a time to get out the gardening tools and buy those seedlings which will change
the whole atmosphere as the sun, showers and Mother Nature work their miracles."
May also brings a special day of remembrance and a time to honor our Mothers,
both living and those who have passed away. Many will travel back home to have
a day or weekend with the blessed person who was a guide and 'angel' through
their younger years. Others may travel to cemetaries to stand prayerfully--
remembering the dear loved one who taught them life's lessons.
I hope that however you spend the day that your memories will be happy ones
I have written a poem dedicated to my Mother. I have written what is meaningful to me-
and the way I remember my mom. I would like to share this with all of you--and hope
it will touch your hearts in ways that are yours alone.
The sun is setting behind the hills
and dusk is drawing near.
I can hear your voice in the silent night
"Hush now, there''s nothing to fear!"
The hills and the home you loved so much
give me comfort even now,
Although you've been gone for many years
I can sense you there somehow!
I turn to the hills for peace and calm
feeling God beside me,too.
and I realize the strength I get from them
is the strength I got from you.
For you were my source of beauty and faith
as you taught me throughout life,
You represented goodness and love
in your role of mother and wife.
Sometimes I long for the touch of your hand
or to see your "lovellight" shine
when you looked at your family with joy and pride
as you taught me to look at mine.
I can hear your voice in the quiet church
singing out so sweet and true
"Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow"
then your prayer, "Bless our family, too!"
No, the years can't change my memories
for you're never far away.
You still speak to me in many ways
as you walk with me each day.
So I look to the hills and I stand by the sea
knowing how you loved each one
And I see you there hand in hand with our Lord
just beyond the setting sun .
I can feel a peace within my heart
as I silently hear you say
"Lo I am with you always
For Christ has shown the way"!
